About our Church and beliefs |
| |
The Methodist Church was founded by John and Charles
Wesley. It is a Protestant Church which seeks to
combine personal relationships to God and social witness. |
| |
We accept the Scriptures
as the basic Christian authority for belief and practice.
|
We accept the historic
creeds as summary statements of Christian belief.
|
We accept two sacraments - Holy Baptism and Holy Communion.
|
We have ordained
presbyters and deacons. We also have many forms of lay
ministries, such as local preachers, who as a group conduct
more Sunday Services than the ordained clergy.
|
Our congregations are grouped into Circuits who are supervised by a
Superintendent assisted by other clergy.
|
Our services have
little ritual, include a lot of singing of hymns - old and new. We
involve members of the congregation in
leadership.
|
| We seek to give
a Christian witness concerning developments in our society and world. |
