 About our Church and beliefs

The Bible
The Methodist Church was founded by John and Charles Wesley. It is a Protestant Church which seeks to combine personal relationships to God and social witness.

We accept the Scriptures as the basic Christian authority for belief and practice.
We accept the historic creeds as summary statements of Christian belief.
We accept two sacraments - Holy Baptism and Holy Communion.
We have ordained presbyters and deacons. We also have many forms of lay ministries, such as local preachers, who as a group conduct more Sunday Services than the ordained clergy.
Our congregations are grouped into Circuits who are supervised by a Superintendent assisted by other clergy.
Our services have little ritual, include a lot of singing of hymns - old and new. We involve members of the congregation in leadership.
We seek to give a Christian witness concerning developments in our society and world.
